Wanting, Providing, Wanting, and on, and on...

The Sippican is in the same world we are all in - the one whose forced plentitude just leaves us wanting.  And I don't blame him.  The more the world seems to think it knows what to heap upon us, the less we seem to have.  We should all be well aware of what we want, and also as aware as can be of what we can give.  He wanted to see babies.  I can give him one.

Modern technology meets the Eternal Miracle.  Like any mindless juggernaut, technology does not know it cannot stack up, so it keeps screaming along.  Sometimes, we benefit from its blind energy by getting something to see.  I saw this today:

Well, I'm of mixed mind concerning the technology. It was an enduring mystery... boy? girl?... until the actual delivery back in the day when my two oldest were born. We knew the sex of my third early into the pregnancy. All well and good, I suppose, but there's this nagging feeling that something was lost. But the nursery was painted the requisite shade of blue and the layette was sufficiently male, well in advance.

Progress, I suppose.

Butch is lookin' quite good, I should add. Keep on, Andy. The best to ya and yer missus.

DUDE!!! Congrats, man! I didn't know Ma was in the family way. Dang, that's exciting.

We never knew the sex of any of ours beforehand, as technology had not advanced. But, we always assumed a boy, because there are so many males in my family. Plus, I did not think that God would give me a daughter, because I would certainly end up in prison for murdering some no good pos teenage boy.

That's amazing how clear those shots are now. Butch! I like it...

Wow - it is amazing what can be seen and delivered (no pun intended) these days. Congrats in all ways.

Ah, Buck. I want nothing to do with any such mystery. I need to know, and am glad we have the ability.

I tell ya what, (The Other) Andy, I am worried sick about the gorgeous girl-child becoming a teenager. Those will be terrifying years (For her, at the nunnery).

Pun intended or not, Kris, it really is amazing every time one is delivered. Children are beautiful.

Thanks to the lot of you for the well-wishes, we're happy as can be.

Stunning, Andy! My Irksome Middle is now full-blown woman with a boy on the way (Sweet Baby James) and preparing to walk down the plank, I mean, aisle come October 9. Mother-in-law. I never thought of it that way. I prefer to think that I am getting two sons...to go with all the daughters I have.

Thank you, Greg. Very kind. It is marvelous, indeed.

And Jewel, two sons sounds better than Mother-in-Law to me, also. But then, you've never heard my Mother-in-law sing.

The first time I saw one of those new sonographs, I thought it was a simulation. They are really amazing, and we are learning that the babies have a lot more going on in the womb than we ever realized.
